you may want to try the brand new ActiveIQ API Services to find out if a cluster needs a (disk-fw) upgrade:

Well... this certainly is not an answer to your question but may be helpful to monitor the need for upgrades.
best regards Tim
Indeed, we implemented some code to detect these risks, but it doesn't solve the download problem.

Yah, a plain old FTP access would be enough – or just a web listing with all available binaries 😊
We’re currently trying to build local repositories for firmware and ontap images a spart of our storage management platform and getting access to new releases is a vital feature here.
But I guess we’ll do some scripting.

Hey,
I’m interested in the ways people keep their firmware updated on their filers. On the support website, you can download all.zip and all_shelf_fw.zip, but they are most of the time not recent enough, so f.ex. today I could download all.zip from 10-APR-19 and there is more recent firmware for quite some disks dated with 17-May-19.
Does anyone know if there is a public/private URL where I can download a „nightly“ build or something like this for all.zip?
Or is there any URL/FTP/etc. (without having to parse the download website with some selenium scripts or something like that) that I could use to mirror all the firmware files to one of my servers and create the zip file there?
To the best of my knowledge, as a customer, there is no such a thing. But looking forward to what other Toasters have to say on this topic.
I've been requesting this via various means to NetApp, i.e. to offer a place were you as a customer can download images and various firmwares, etc, without writing my own website scrapper, or selenium scripts.
One of the last updates I got, was that they are planning to add some features to OCUM that would pull these updates from netapp and let you know that there are new files/patches for you to apply.
But not sure of the whole scope of this feature, and when will it become available.
Regards,
Pablo.
