I'm thinking of attending the Netapp202 course (it fits nicely in with my plans for Usenix Tech.'99) - I've been running Netapps for a few years now, but wouldn't mind some more "inside" information on the secret bits. Is anyone willing to recommend this course ?
If you know a lot about NetApps including the super secret commands then it will be a waste, I think. However, it was nice to be able to cruise down NACs halls. I think I really like their work environment. Everyone has a cube. Walled offices are not for the priviledged, they're only there because of the leasing agreement (or something) that NAC had to sign. I also dug their NAC toaster in the factory inherited from Apple (I think), and the Auspex in their conference room. Coincidentally Auspex is across the street from NAC. The "shower" doors on cubes simply RULE, and some of the people are _strangely_ fascinating.
NetApp needs to do something about the "total nfs ops counter" - it's rolled 15 times since the last reboot - nfsstat -l gives some really interesting output :
[output snipped] 195.225.3.37 www2.sol.no NFSOPS = 1385724634 (4294966978%)
I opened a bug report with them about the inode cache statistics. They claimed to be way more than 100% efficient. I attributed it to NACs proprietary clairvoyance technology. ;)
Now that I think about it, I should have been upgrading my boxes, I might have had similar stats. :(
