Used values are very low on old used gear and really don't reflect original purchase prices at all. Unless you negotiated to have transferable licences when you purchased them then realistically they're only going to fetch a few thousand dollars.
Some of the best intrinsic value is transferable support of Network Appliance. The licenses are a costly big deal also.
The hardware is not as expensive. As an employee, I can buy one of the top newest filers personally but the hardware cost is a fraction than the licensing. The fact is, without the technical support and the keys to license the software, you are really bound as to what these devices can do.
