When can file level ACLs be expected?
Garrett,
I apologize for the delayed response.
Just like the FAQ says, NTFS-style file and directory level ACLs will be available in the next release of Windows Networking Software.
This is the first time we have publically said this, and are working hard to deliver on it. We expect that this functionality will be available in the first half of 1998.
Ya know, that is pretty cool, and I am glad to hear it.
But there are many of us who have been requesting soft quotas and we have never been told publically or privately that it is being actively worked on and will be available in the next release.
CIFS is new to the NetApp boxen and it seems to work pretty well, but NFS was your first baby and you have not done anything yet to help us in this world who need one item - soft quotas.
I don't get it...and I know I am not alone.
