We used to dump DFM info into spreadsheets and then conduct analysis on each filer to come up with a simple traffic light report for management with another complex spreadsheet to justify what we were asking for next years disk spend (also based on DFM info and known other factors like upcoming projects).
Since then we've moved to DFM 3.3 so I've been pointing management at a couple of existing reports for day to day stuff (the new multilevel menu is really handy for presenting the right dataset) and made a couple of custom reports for disk usage (another fix over previous DFM's was they changed how growth forecasts were calculated so I 90% believe them now).
I do dump some DFM figures into a spreadsheet every 6 months or so, because I've been hit with a couple of the ever popular "we want growth figures going back to 2002" from various parties in the past.
