Hi,
Have you tried switching between SMB versions?
Have you tried to modify this options?
cifs.smb2.enable cifs.smb2.signing.required cifs.smb2_1.branch_cache.enable cifs.smb2_1.branch_cache.hash_time_out
Do you have vscan enabled? Did you made some adjust in the TCP stack? Windows time. Make sure MTU is identical in all the network path.

Have you tried a more recent version of ONTAP more in line with the timeline of Win8.1? I am *not* saying 8.2 here....just a more recent version of 8.1 (like 8.1.2 or newer ...current is 8.1.4P1)
You may be hitting some incompatability with the earlier ONTAP version. Historically, NetApp will fix the code within 90 days to be compatible with CIFS versions

Hello All, Is anyone familiar with any issues between DOT 8.1 7-mode CIFS/SMB and Windows 8.1? Users are reporting error pop-ups when they try to access but so far all I have to go on are pretty generic Windows squawk boxes.
