Thanks for the response Pete. Are there any optimizations, best practices, scheduled maintenance I can do to make sure the DFM database is operating optimally? Is there performance differences between Windows Server or Linux?

No, it's not possible and never will be. We have way too much code written specifically for the embedded database we use, including all the code which starts, stops, initializes, upgrades, and backs up the database.
Many customers have asked for this. Our 6.0 release is a major overhaul of the OnCommand code and it's now technically plausible to swap database engines. It's not free for NetApp (we'd have to qualify some databases, figure out a support process, probably write some code, that sort of thing) so we're always trading off this versus other features. It's not committed on any roadmap so I'm not promising anything.

Hi,
Anyone know if it is possible, or will ever be possible, to use an Oracle database, or even MSSQL, for DFM/OC5? With our dependency on on it now for provisioning & protection I'd sure sleep better if I knew this thing was HA. Seems odd that SMO uses an Oracle DB to keep track of it's business, but DFM can't/doesn't.
