Nope, this is the exact use case for vfilers - creating virtualized filers to do multiple things.
I will say that clustered Data ONTAP is an even better option for doing this sort of thing. ;)

I have a 7-mode system that hosts a number of non-default-vfilers. Several non-default-vfilers have been added to an Active Directory domain. vfiler0, however, is not a member of the domain on either controller.
I have a new Fiber Channel client that is going to utilize this 7-mode system. This client plans to use a SnapManager product that would benefit from vfiler0 being added to the domain.
Will adding vfiler0 to the domain (cifs setup) affect the configuration of any of the existing vfilers?
