Thanks to the many who responsed with help off-list. As to the solution, we could have:
- -opted for the NetApp recommended pin-outs (4-4;3-6;6-3) on the twisted pair to connect the 3020s to the Cyclades without using the X881 rj45-to-db9 adapter, or - -hang some Avocent ADB0039 dongles off the 3020s with a standard patch cable to the Cyclades.
We opted for the latter since we had the parts. Tested successfully without issue. Thanks again!
