Ladies and Gentlemen, may I borrow your filer talents for a moment?
I am trying to figure out how to do a "vfiler dr configure" to tape. i.e. Setup the mirrored DR vFilers by doing the initial snapmirror to tape. NOTE: This is distinctly different to snapmirroring a volume to tape. At the moment, I cannot see how it can be done using the standard Multistore DR configuration methodology and command set.
Is it possible to snapmirror to tape as per normal, restore the tape to the DR "physical" filer volumes and then do the "vfiler dr configure". In this way I have completed the snapmirror portion of the vfiler dr configuration whilst the standard method takes care of the rest. The major obstacle I can see here is that the source qtree names cannot pre-exist on the target volumes.
If network-initialization is the only option, can I throttle the initial snapmirror transfer kicked off by the "vfiler dr configure" command? i.e. Will there be volume or qtree entries in the /etc/snapmirror.conf of the physical filer that I can edit with the -k/kb throttling option?
Will this option allow me to significantly reduce the snapmirror WAN traffic whilst initializing the DR vfiler(s)?
Can I # (hash) out some of the volumes so that only 1 or 2 actively transfer across the line?
All designs will be welcomed and considered carefully.
Thanks,
Aaron
