But we've had the motherboard swapped out by NetApp and we have the exact same error messages.
Does anyone out there have this configuration? I just don't understand what we could be doing that is so different from the people that have this drive and the engineers who have "tested" it.

Is the tape unit fried? Have you tested it to make sure that it works on other systems, and that the scsi connection is correctly terminated.
