Are you sure it's genuinely misaligned?
Database logging operations almost always set off the misaligned warnings in ONTAP. The only way to be sure is to get the perfstat or just "stats lun" output. There's a quick guide on how to get this data in Appendix B of TR-3633. If you get the "stats start" and "stats stop" data from a time when the database is reasonably active, you'll know whether this is true misalignment or just the usual harmless logging activity.

Hi John,
Agreed about the signature, nothing I can do about that though!!
It is a SQL LUN which was 7MTT across, it is 12TB in size, about 5TB used.
I know there used to be a way to easily fix this in 7 mode, but cannot find anything on CDOT

How are you seeing this mis-alignment? What are the numbers? How big is the lun? What OS is using the LUN? Looking at the docs, VMware is almost impossible to aligh correctly. There are other issues with Linux and Solairs, but if you have LVM in place between the LUN and the filesystem(s), maybe you can build a new aligned LUN and migrate the data that way?
Chris> Looking for a procedure for ONTAP 9.1, all articles seem to be for 7-Mode.
Chris> Can anyone in this group offer any advice?
Sure, trim your darn corporate silly ass message trailer, it was something like 10x longer than your message! I know, it's not upto you, but dang it's stupidly long. And stupidly not appropriate.
