I've had a 740 running for well over a year with ~ 150 local NT users, and many more unix users, including even more accessing the filer via a WAN link. It's got 6 ethernet interfaces lit up (one of which is gig-e), and ~600GB of storage. It serves project areas as well as home directories, and I can't say enough good things about the performance. If you don't see yourself scaling past ~ 1 TB in the near future, then I'd say no sweat, G.I.
