Raymond, When we first got the BudTool product 4 years ago it was thru the local PDC office here in Dallas. Now we know that Intelliguard took over the BudTool line sometime in 1998, when we leased some new equipment we had PDC come in to help with the install of our DLT jukebox and transferring our BudTool s/w - went smooth as silk - although we ran into a couple of issues with the install (on Auspex systems) the PDC engineer knew excatly what to do to fix it and then got on the phone to Intelliguard and told them the problem and what the fix would be for it!! When we went to upgrade BudTool from 4.5 to 4.6 I called the PDC engineer just to see if they knew of any issues, they told me what OS rev I needed to be in regard to the NetApp (release 5.1.2R3P1) and what issues might crop up in regard to the Auspex systems - again PDC was right on top of the BudTool products and knew what to expect. You can check out the company at http://www.pdc.com

Tom,
Glad to read this. There are far too many "cowboys" in computer software in general selling products they can't or won't support, so when I come across a decent bunch like Intelliguard, I like to give them due credit.
As a matter of interest, tell me more about the PDC support.
:)

Raymond, I second that - been using BudTool for 4 years, a couple of problems but NONE with backing up the NetApp box. I think the current version, 4.6, is a fine product and for the most part Intelliguard's support has been more than satisfactory - We also use PDC support sometimes for BudTool and they are outstanding!!

This does not tie in with my experience at all. The expertise at Intelliguard ( particularly in the UK, but also via the US) has
been second
to none. As regards the "headache", I've had a few with
NetApps, but none
with Budtool. I set it up and it just works fine. The only time
I've needed
to call on them was to add new schedules etc.
Anyone else feel like this ?

I DO NOT recommend Budtool! I have been using Budtool in the last 4 years. From the beginning, the support was wonderful even though the product was just so so. But since Budtool splits into 2 companies: budtool and Intelliguard, I have had many bad experiences with both product and support from Intelliguard. Many of their experience tech supports are gone. The new ones are nasty and inexperience. In my opinion, the product is not worth the headache.

I wondered if anyone was using NetBackup with their filers. We are currently using Networker but are sufficiently dissatisfied that we going to look at NetBackup and I am interested in any problem that others have encountered.
