We have an F940c cluster. There are 2 shelves of 144 GB disks configured in a single volume on each head (4 TB raw per head). These systems are used as big file servers with CIFS-only traffic. We've had them in production since 11/2003 and haven't had any performance issues at all.
However, we're not doing DB work or NFS traffic (NFS coming soon). There are also no iSCSI connections. Like I said; just big file servers...but no performance issues at all.

We're looking at a 940 system and have been quoted for one with 144GB drives. I'm a little unsure about the use of 144GB disks with repect to performance but don't have access to any data to support this. Does anybody have relevant links or any other comments?
