Hi
Have you tried to restart the CIFS service? Did you check that all the network path/components are correct?
MTU Sizes FlowControls Clients firewalls TCP Window Sizes
I had a problem with CIFS and the problem was a MTU issue. I spend a lot of time troubleshooting this one.

Hi,
Have you tried switching between SMB versions?
Have you tried to modify this options?
cifs.smb2.enable cifs.smb2.signing.required cifs.smb2_1.branch_cache.enable cifs.smb2_1.branch_cache.hash_time_out
Do you have vscan enabled? Did you made some adjust in the TCP stack? Windows time. Make sure MTU is identical in all the network path.

Have you tried a more recent version of ONTAP more in line with the timeline of Win8.1? I am *not* saying 8.2 here....just a more recent version of 8.1 (like 8.1.2 or newer ...current is 8.1.4P1) You may be hitting some incompatability with the earlier ONTAP version.
