There are many exceptions to NetApp's formal policy -- used NetApp filers with "freely transferable software" do, in fact, exist. NetApp has been very cooperative in the transfer of "used" software licenses to many of our customers.

We have all models of used NetApp F700 series filers and add-ons -- available at deep discounts, configured to suit, and fully warranted. Some have freely transferable NFS, CIFS and/or Cluster licenses; others are great for back-up systems and/or spares kits.
