We use a Compaq SAN Switch, which is a rebadged Brocade Silkworm 2800.
As good as they are in most other areas, NetApp wasn't much help
setting this up. The detail in their web resources is limited to
block diagrams of tape SAN setups; even the specialized Brocade page
(http://www.netapp.com/osn/info/fc/brocade.html) only seems to deal
with cascading FC switches, and not with any basic configuration.
The telephone support people were not eager to help when I told them
what kind of switch we were using, and the info they did give me
was wrong.
NetApp, if you're listening, you need to provide some sort of cookbook
for setting up a tape SAN, especially for a setup with multiple filers,
a large library, FC switch, and FC-to-SCSI bridged tape drives.
No one person seems to know how to configure this.
