Disk space and Network transport appear to be the most likely. Use Statit to gather information about volume performance. Consider going to GB Ethernet. This can be done on copper instead of fiber saving some implementation costs.
But won't an increase in bandwidth result in a higher CPU load as more packets will get to/from the filer for processing ?
