How about if you uncheck the option "Perform incrementals based on archive bit" on the client from where you are backing up this CIFS share? From Netbakup Help" "Clear the Incrementals Based on Archive Bit check box to have NetBackup include a file in an incremental backup only if the datetime stamp for the file has been changed since the last backup. For a differential-incremental backup, NetBackup compares the datetime stamp to the last full or incremental backup. For a cumulative-incremental backup, NetBackup compares the timestamp to the last full backup.
If you install or copy files from another computer, the new files retain the date timestamp of the originals. If the original date is before the last backup date on this computer, then the new files are not backed up until the next full backup. "

I have an R200 with SnapLock Enterprise on ONTAP 6.5R2. A batch job runs every night to set the retention period against the data on a couple of WORM volume. The application that manages these data does not have the ability to set retention period, yet. Therefore, I have to run the Snaplocker.exe utility to manually set the retention period.
The batch job as follow:
snaplocker.exe \Filer\volume 1h 3m /F << The /F switch is used because some files written/copied to the volume may already be 'read only'.
The problem is with Veritas Netbackup Enterprise v4.5 incremental backup. All incremental backup is treated as a full backup since the batch job scans all files every time it runs. This somehow causes Veritas to think a file already there is a new/modified. And so, every backup job is a full.
Any suggestions?
