... simply following the previous post about security issue "wishes":
I would also apreciate in having a consistent way in starting and stopping the services on the filers. We have:
nfs on / off snapmirror on / off fcp start / stop iscsi start / stop cifs restart / terminate options snapvault.enable on / off ...
This is just a short excerpt, that just came in my head. I think there are appr. two more different ways in turning services on/off ... Oh, yes. I think, there is at least also true and false ...
Some services have to be started by entering the name of the service "SERVICE on / off", sometimes I have use the "options SERVICENAME.enable on / off"
nfs is a server, iscsi is a server, cifs is a server. Why does NetApp need three different ways of starting/stopping them?
Why don't we get a simple on / off for all these services? e.g. cifs on / off iscsi on / off
Or why don't we allow (for compatibility) both ways as synonyms: (on = start / off = stop)?
Believing in a better (easier) world to come... Yours sincerly Dirk Schmiedt
