The option name is actually cifs.symlinks.enable
You may also need to look at cifs.symlinks.cycleguard if the symlinks start with . or ..
Also you may need to create/modify /etc/symlink.translations if the path the unix clients follow is not the same path the filer would have to follow.

We are facing problem in accessing the Doc files which are symbolic links on the Netapp box from a PC. Please can you let us know how to access that. We tried with the option
