This will be tricky. Under an active/active cluster, the disks have to have software ownership enabled,
That is not quite correct, sorry. Active/active cluster existed long before software based disk ownership was introduced and software based disk ownership is used for standalone systems as well.
Is it true that with recent enough Data ONTAP only software based disk ownership is supported.
