I would check that the port you have the tape drive connected too is configured as an initiator or target port ( if you are using the built in fiber ports ).
It should be an initiator.

Hello all,
Please accept my apologies if I appear stupid, but Fibre Channel is not something I know a lot about.
Previously we had a clustered FAS270, each head had 1 FC tape connection, with each one connecting back to a single ADIC tape library.
At the weekend this was upgraded to a 3040 cluster, and now neither of the 3040 heads see the tape library. Both heads again are connected directly to the tape library as they were with the 270's. There are no fibre channel switches involved.
It would be of great help if anyone could point me in the right direction in troubleshooting this. As NetApp don't appear to be of great help.
