You cannot edit the qual_devices file. Its integrity is checked by Ontap and it will reject any modification.

There's no real reason they won't work together, it's just that Netapp won't support you if something goes wrong. *grin*
If your is disk is not listed in the latest qual_devices, you won't be able to use it in the filer.
