At the CLI enter:
vserver show
If the volume name shows up as the root volume of a vserver you will most probably need it. If you do need it, you can always migrate it just like you did for the non root volumes.

All,
I have a SVM called VS1_NFS on my FAS6290 running Ontap 9.1. My question is can I delete the volume called “VS1_NFS_root” that is created that is 1 GB in size? We are migrating to new disk and wondering if I need this volume?
Chris
