Hi Niels,
our paths cross again it seems ;-)
First of all : thank you all for your messages -- I got excellent replies to my questions off-list from an old friend (you know who you are :-)).
I will elaborate on some questions below.

Hi,
we recently acquired two filers (3140) with DS4243 shelves, and upgraded them to ONTAP 8.0. I know that this is a GA release, but I did notice some glitches (which are perfectly understandable), and have some questions for the people here who understand this better than me :
- installing the 8.0 doc yields a "Documentation for Data ONTAPTM 8.0
is installed, but is out-of-date." message ;
You can install updated documentation, just download docs8.zip from NOW (it is on the download site of ONTAP 8), and click the link to update the docs
That's what I did -- but I get the message nevertheless (as of yesterday).
- I couldn't find any firmware updates for the DS4243 shelves on NOW --
is this normal? ;
Probably so. The box is kind of new, possibly there are no updates yet.
OK.
- we configured the e0M interface (and I think that it is a great
idea), but I couldn't find a way to configure the filer to exclusively be administrated through e0M (i.e. the embedded SSH server now answers on both interfaces) ;
Check the manual pages for na_protocolaccess, you can configure which interface to use in access settings per protocol
I will, thanks.

You can not. In 8.0 the root aggr has to be on a 32-bit aggr. We just installed two clusters with 8.0 and ran into this limitation. I believe it's being addressed in a future version.
That's also what I heard.
This list is great !
