FYI... there is a non-published "secret ninja" way to do this without a reboot. We've done it a few times and never had any negative repercusions (that we know of).
Next time it comes up just tell your NetApp Tech Support representative that rebooting isn't an option and if they don't know the secret fix, escalate the case.
