We have 8 F760s filers here at WebTV that we're backing up with NetBackup 3.1.1 using NDMP to STK 9710 and 9730 libraries. We had some problems with NetBackup initially that were solved by using unqualified hostnames for the filers (NetBackup has relatively short limits on hostnames). We continue to have what appear to be performance problems with NDMP in general, which often force us to abort backups, but the Veritas and Storagetek components seem to be functioning adequately.
We also had to significantly increase timeout values in NetBackup - it can take a long time for a filer to prepare a list of the files it is going to backup and such. CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT and CLIENT_READ_TIMEOUT appear to be the key parameters that you'll want to change in your bp.conf file. Increase them ridiculously and see what happens.
We do not use ACSLS - none of the lower end STK libraries require it, and direct support for the robots is one of the biggest advantages of NetBackup.

Hi,
We have recently purchased two F760 filers as well as Veritas netbackup and StorageTek Tape libraries.
Thus far we have been unsuccessful in backing up our filers using NDMP.
Has anyone out there have a similar configuration or encountered similar problems?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
