I am interested. Would like to know more about the specific config. #disks/RAID config/# file systems/any tuning/ etc... This could be useful, considering the previously standard benchmark for Unix performance (SpecSFS) has been retired, and the previously published results are supposed to be a poor basis for comparison due to three identified problems. Posted a question to this effect on the NOW Forum for NFS performance, but haven't gotten (to my point of view) a satisfactory answer.
I haven't done any tuning at all. The NetApp is out-of-the-box, and I'm not sure what's been done on the EMC side since only the EMC guys have touched it.
The NetApp is actually an 840C, which is two 840s clustered, but I've been using just one head for testing. Each head has two shelvs. Each shelf contains 14 drives. The volume I was using to do the tests uses 20 disks, (34GB each) 18 for data and 2 for parity, RAID4.
I don't know a whole lot about the Celerra. I know the Symmetrix uses RAID 0+1, but that's about it.
