snapshot bolus after re-enabling de-dup

Snapdrive failing to create a flexclone but only on Sundays. Works fine every other day of the week.

Long story short we have a clone of our production database that we refresh and remount on a linux server every night. This is a script that is being called from cron. We recently converted the server that runs this script from a physical server to a vmware vm. Since we have done that this refresh process has failed the past 3 sunday nights. It runs every single night and it runs without errors every other night. There's not much to the script, here's the command that creates the flex clone: snapdrive snap connect -lun log/disk disk_$LUN -snapname filer:/vol/database_volume/log/disk:$SNAPNAME them we mount the flex clone that is create via iSCSI. bypassed disks - whats the deal?

We've discovered a couple of these bypassed disk conditions via the flashing amber light - but this was noticed totally out of band with normal support Each time we opened a case manually and Netapp immediately sent out a disk replacement. So why is a bypassed disk not treated as a failed disk ? This kind of silent failure (in terms of Netapp monitoring and alerts) in a lights out datacenter seems negligent. Message logged on syslog server: esh.bypass.err.disk:error]: Disk 4d.49 on channels 4d/PARTNER disk shelf ID 3 ESH A bay 1 Bypassed due to the drive self bypass. migrating vol0 (root) to new aggr

Hola guru's I've done the steps to migrate vol0 from aggr0 to aggr1 from: https://communities.netapp.com/thread/11439 vol restrict newroot vol copy start -S root newroot vol online newroot vol options newroot root # aggr options root is from maintenance mode...when done here the aggregate containing newroot will become root since it has the root volume. vol status # confirm newroot is "diskroot" reboot vol status # confirm newroot is now root vol offline root vol destroy root vol rename newroot root -- and am about to reboot Is it necessary to do the aggr options aggr1 root Or only if on reboot ontap can't find the root vol0 on aggr1? thanks Fletcher

Is this telling me that the HBA in the filer ('toaster-a') aborted the SCSI command? Or that the port on the back-end storage (a 3Par T800) aborted the command? The FAS30xx series do. It is a single port card. stuck creating an aggregate?

Provisioning a half dozen new aggregates on a new 3240 and while most of them completed within seconds, two are stuck at "initializing." Can't offline them, destroy them, or do anything at all to them without getting an error about the operation not being permitted on an aggregate that's still being created. One of them has been in this state for an hour now. Any advice? Anything I can do to shake them loose? Or should I just go take a nap and hope for the best?

vFiler migration with flex-clones fails - Volume is a clone and scanners have not completed on the parent volume: cannot execute operation

It takes almost 6 hours to run the initial snap mirror sync for this vFiler migration, and its failed twice with Waiting for SnapMirror-Resync to complete on 'dbdev2, dbdev5, dbdev7' flex-clones… then SnapMirror Resync failed: Reason: SnapMirror error: Volume is a clone and scanners have not completed on the parent volume: cannot execute operation Src and dest are 3270 clusters running 8.1RC2 This is the last remaining migration blocking our long awaited shelf upgrade - and we have a case open with Netapp Anyone seen this one and worked around it? FAS2240 and SSD

Hi all, expected for january 2012 there was the support to partially loaded DS4243 with 100 GB SSD units: 6 or 12. This was also reported in the "FAS2240 Technical questions" document by Chris Lueth. I'm trying to find some official doc that reports now this. Are these units really already supported on FAS2240? Regards Dott.
