If memory serves, this happens because when the Spam controls were put in place (only registered subscribers can post), then Netapp employees were no longer able to post because they receive the list through an internal remailer/exploder. It was decided at the time that having Netapp able to post was more important than preventing the occasional Spam. What I find really interesting is that the only Spam we ever seem to get is variations on the Nigerian thing. Consequently, most of my colleagues and my newly acquired properties were seized again putting us to total confusion,frustration and hopelessness by the present administration in my country and we where subjected to psychological torture by the security agents in the country. Some of my friends are still under detention, although arrangements are being made for their release, now I have no confidence with anybody within my country. You must have heard over the media and the Internet on the recovery of various huge sums of money deposited by some diamond dealers in different banks abroad, some companies willingly give up their secrets and disclosed our money confidently lodged there on outright blackmail. In fact the total sum $850 Million Dollars, and they are not relenting to making some of us poor in life. I had no option than to leave the country immediately. But I did that only after I was able to first move some money out of my country. I had US$21.500,000 (Twenty One Million, five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) in my domiciliary account in Freetown. I had to move the money out of the country through a very secret arranged channel in a very unconventional method by my friend an official at the "Security Minting & Printing Company" of my country. Presently, the money is in an Oversea Country, under the custody of a private security firm whose name is withheld for now until we open communication. Summary: Tape Jukebox and scsi errors (Overland LXS mini library express)

Description: We have a F820 with a lvd scsi card and a Overland Data LXS mini library express (1 dlt7000 and 15 slots) This is directly attached and controlled via ndmp and Veritas NetBackup 3.4.1 We were getting the following errors: Sun Dec 1 12:30:18 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: 1.4(0x015e8ca4, 0x00): command timeout, quiescing bus to allow outstanding I/O to complete. Sun Dec 1 12:30:24 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: Resetting SCSI adapter 1 (ha #0) Sun Dec 1 12:30:25 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: Resetting SCSI bus 1 (ha #0) to clear outstanding I/O. Solution: The problem was due to the qlogic single channel lvd scsi controller. This was the third one of these I had had in the system. We found this out by doing an upgrade to 6.3.1 and having critical system problems. When I found a dual channel card and put that in, things worked fine and we have not had any errors since. Our sales rep is sending us a dual channel to replace this single channel card, so they are taking care of us in that respect. Lost LOTS of time during this diagnosis since the card partially worked and we were able to do backups, but would have to sometimes reboot the filer to reset the jukebox. We are getting a new STK L180 and will have SDLT320 tape drives to backup most of our filers (once we upgrade to 6.3.1 and Veritas 4.5). I had similar problems. As far as I know, I have the full privs needed to add a host into the ActiveDirectory stuff, and I would authenticate properly as myself when I tried to run cifs setup under 6.3.1, but it would fail with permission denied errors. Since we were in a bit of a rush to get this system setup and deployed, I don't have access to it again to try some other suggestions from NetApp, which mostly involve turning on logging and access tracing so I can see what's causing the access denied problems. John, We added the "Computer Object" into the domain prior to running CIFS Setup (waited a few minutes for replication). Hi, I'm having a problem getting an F760 with NFS/CIFS running OnTap 6.3.1 to actually talk to our Win2K domain properly. I'm assuming it's a priv problem on the PDC side, but I don't know enough of how to fix it. Basically, whenever I try to run 'cifs setup', it fails at the end with the following message: Could not create Active Directory account for the filer: No such object CIFS could not create server machine account. But I'm supposed to have the privs with my account to add this machine into ActiveDirectory. Has anyone else run into stuff like this? And does anyone have any hints on what I need to do on the Windows PDC to give myself the privs I need to get this done? 144GB Fiber Channel drives in the field

hiya anyone using the 144GB drives? currently we have DS14s filled with 36GB drives. these are used in a production environment, so of course we need maximum uptime. we're considering getting more DS14s filled with either 72GB or 144GB drives. we want the most bang for the buck, but i have concerns about the 144GB drives. anyone out there have any experience with them? are the reconstruct times for a 144GB disk proportionally prohibitive when compared to 72GB and 36GB drives? how long does it take to reconstruct a failed 144GB drive on a hot spare compared to 72GB and 36GB disks, under consistent filer workload and raid reconstruct speed? are there performance issues to consider if we were to go with 144GB rather than 72GB? any other pros and cons? thanks in advance, kallen

What was the speed you were expecting? And what did you get? When writing to all (9) R100 volumes concurrently, I got to a max of 30Mbytes/Sec. That got the R100 to 100% cpu constant. (The source filers weren't that busy).
