Right now we are evaluating Symantec AntiVirus Scan Engine 4.0, it specifically supports the NetApp filers; and runs in real time. So far our testing of the product has gone well. It's a special release to fix this bug. The bug number is 85559. You have to do a priv set diag and run rtag -t malloc. Look for JAVA having to do with NDMP. If you see this line, watch it for a day or 2. If the numbers increment, you have the leak. You really should never see the JAVA NDMP tape device line at all. Today we have discovered that snapshots for backup are not deleting correctly. The NDMPD process was holding the snapshot hostage. A volume ran out of space due to this issue. We were able to kill the NDMPD sessions that were holding the snapshot open and the snapshot deleted normally. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? For those of you running SnapManager for Exchange, how big are your databases and how long does it take to verify them? Also, those who run multiple backups, what is your CPU utilization like when running 4 simultaneous backups and what is your tape throughput? 419 spam, collect the whole set! Maybe forwarding them to each other would be best? Mu, it's a chuckle. vol0, as long as it doesn't fill up from snapshots or data, shouldn't be a problem. If memory serves, this happens because when the Spam controls were put in place (only registered subscribers can post), then Netapp employees were no longer able to post because they receive the list through an internal remailer/exploder. It was decided at the time that having Netapp able to post was more important than preventing the occasional Spam. What I find really interesting is that the only Spam we ever seem to get is variations on the Nigerian thing. Some of my friends are still under detention, although arrangements are being made for their release, now I have no confidence with anybody within my country. You must have heard over the media and the Internet on the recovery of various huge sums of money deposited by some diamond dealers in different banks abroad, some companies willingly give up their secrets and disclosed our money confidently lodged there on outright blackmail. In fact the total sum $850 Million Dollars, and they are not relenting to making some of us poor in life. I had no option than to leave the country immediately. But I did that only after I was able to first move some money out of my country. I had US$21.500,000 (Twenty One Million, five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) in my domiciliary account in Freetown. I had to move the money out of the country through a very secret arranged channel in a very unconventional method by my friend an official at the "Security Minting & Printing Company" of my country. Summary: Tape Jukebox and scsi errors (Overland LXS mini library express)

Description: We have a F820 with a lvd scsi card and a Overland Data LXS mini library express (1 dlt7000 and 15 slots) This is directly attached and controlled via ndmp and Veritas NetBackup 3.4.1 We were getting the following errors: Sun Dec 1 12:30:18 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: 1.4(0x015e8ca4, 0x00): command timeout, quiescing bus to allow outstanding I/O to complete. Sun Dec 1 12:30:24 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: Resetting SCSI adapter 1 (ha #0) Sun Dec 1 12:30:25 EST [isp_timeout:warning]: Resetting SCSI bus 1 (ha #0) to clear outstanding I/O. Solution: The problem was due to the qlogic single channel lvd scsi controller. This was the third one of these I had had in the system. We found this out by doing an upgrade to 6.3.1 and having critical system problems. When I found a dual channel card and put that in, things worked fine and we have not had any errors since. Our sales rep is sending us a dual channel to replace this single channel card, so they are taking care of us in that respect. Lost LOTS of time during this diagnosis since the card partially worked and we were able to do backups, but would have to sometimes reboot the filer to reset the jukebox. We are getting a new STK L180 and will have SDLT320 tape drives to backup most of our filers (once we upgrade to 6.3.1 and Veritas 4.5).
