iSCSI is for free but you need a software subscription. I asked about Australia as we've got a change due to the commonwealth games Netapps response was to point me to the Brazil time KB article and tell me roll my own zonefiles Being a 99% windows only shop I was less than impressed with trying to locate a Unix box with zic on top of it so I could compile the binaries (wound up using a linux box) considering just about every other enterprise vendor I've seen was happy to supply updated zone files. Ha! Yes, rc_toggle_basic, *that* was what I couldn't remember. Honestly, I'd considered the booting off the floppy option but it's entirely possible those floppies are long gone for this box. Doesn't netapp use Veritas DMP for its multipathing? Is this environment using EMC Powerpath for multipathing? Never heard of anyone doing that, per se. Performance issues? I can't really think of any that would be different than striping across two EMC or NetApp arrays. There was a spares_zero command (priv set diag). However: 1.) I don't know if the command existed in 5.3.X 2.) 'priv set diag' isn't the privileged mode in 5.3.X - I don't remember the proper one (and am quite frankly too lazy to look it up at the moment). The license for the filer would probably be cheaper than the SUN equipment :P Also - iSCSI (while free for customers) is not supported on the F700 series (but will work). Hi, I'm looking for help with F760 and Ontap 6.5.6. Does anyone have problem experience using "disk_fw_update" without enable cf (cluster). How can i upgrade the dis firmware without enable cluster? The error: filer4*> disk_fw_update Are you sure you want to continue with firmware update? yes (You can ignore disk error messages for disks being updated until this update completes) Cluster interconnect not available (cf disabled?). It does work but iam more concerned about any performance issues wrt to Veritas volume manager stripping across luns from EMC and Netapp.. Really appreciate your input.. -Venkat

wiping disks on an old F230

We've got an old F230 that I was finally able to decommission today, and I figure even though I've deleted all the data it would probably be a good idea to scrub the disks a bit for security purposes. Problem is I just can't remember (and can't seem to find searching around NOW) what the best way to do that back in OnTap 5.3.7R3D18 was. I know I could do disk sanitize now, but not sure what if anything was available in older versions. Any suggestions? (I fully concede that I might be having a complete brain failure about the painfully obvious solution I should already know.
