Hi I think the choices are use trad vols and keep snapshots use flex vols and loose snapshots As you can't mirror from a flex vol to a trad vol, what we wound up doing was ndmpcopying the data, mirroring the tradvol (and snapshots) nightly, and then we cut over to the new box, initializing a second mirror - then when our last snapshot from the trad vol was expired, we destroyed the traditional mirror volume. Hello Everyone, I am trying to upgrade from 6.5 to 7.0.4 and I currently have trad vols. I also have another filer that is hosting my snapmirrors of many trad vols. My goal is to upgrade both filers to 7.0.4 to take advantage of flexvols. I want to preserve my snapshots and have those moved as well. So ndmpcopy is out for me. volcopy preserves my snapshots, but I can't seem to get it to work between trad vols and flex vols. Is there a way I can do the following: 1. upgrade to 7G source and destination 2. Migrate from trad vol to flex while preserving my snapshots 3. update my snapmirror w/o re-initalizing the mirror. 3050 power draw wanted in kWh

I'm about to receive a 3050c ... how can I figure how many watts to budget for it so I can be sure it doesn't blow my UPS. From the website I can tell the head draws at 88 vac to 246vac/19A to 6.4A. How do I translate that into data-center kW [there's a power factor, and the draw is probably not always constant]. Any help would be appreciated. I am a Victim of war in (COTE D'IVOIRE) Africa, I have a small business before the war where I make my ends meat but unfortunately the REBELS came and destroyed all my properties and set fire on houses and offices of which mine is one of them, all my things are gone with fire,all what I have worked for in the past years are gone. Hi, thanks a lot for your reply, i think this is the only possibility we have. But there is one question left, how can i access this "snapshot-LUN" in case i need to restore a special file and not the whole LUN. I thought of copying data with ndmpcopy into another volume, add the copied LUN to the igroup, connect that copied LUN with the target and access the requested file. Or is there an easier way?? Jochen, If you needed to restore the LUN, you would use a "Single File Snap Restore" from the filer. Check the guide under "Snap Restore" You want to use the "-f" flag. This will restore ONLY the LUN out of the snapshot, not revert the entire volume. Jochen, Creating a snapshot of a Boot LUN is a bit tricky. Even with Snapdrive, we cannot positively guarantee the consistency of the Boot LUN. Microsoft doesn't give us an API call into the OS to completely quiesce the I/O before creating the snapshot. Even with Snapdrive, you will see a popup indicating this fact before creating the snapshot. We've completed a LOT of testing and determined that restoring a snapshot of a boot LUN created this way is roughly equivalent to rebooting the Windows host by pressing the reset button on the front while the OS is up and running. Hi Toasters, we have a windows server which boots from a LUN on a filer. The server has a hardware ISCSI controller which connects the LUN with the server and presents it as a bootable device. I now wonder if there is a possibility of making snapshots of the volume containig the LUN's. And if yes i do not know how to access this LUN without the help of snapdrive.
