vol clone split

Hi Toasters, I have a number of volumes running from a common snapshot and would like to split them out. All these volumes are snapmirrored to our DR site. However, when I try to perform a vol clone split, it complains about an in-use snapshot. Reading further, it appears that the split will delete all snapshots, so doesn't like the snapmirror snap. What is the best way to split these volumes? Ideally without having to re-baseline \ lose my snapmirror destination volume \ snaps. 7-mode DOT downgrade question

Folks, We have a rebranded NetApp array (IBM N-series) that we upgrade the ONTAP from 8.1 to 8.2 a few months back. In upgrading to 8.2, the protocol licensing keys were upgraded to the long format and also bound to the controller's S/N. Recently we had to replace the motherboard and now we've lost licensing on the one controller. The partner node is still licensed, both nodes are running. I am thinking about doing a "cf takeover" from the partner node and trying to downgrade the ONTAP back to 8.1 version on the controller with the replaced motherboard. Then reapplying our original 8.1 license keys and then upgrading back to ONTAP 8.2 version, while leaving workloads running on the partner node. Has anyone tried anything similar in the past? Any potential gotchas you can share? Thanks, Eric

Ontap 9.2 aggregate inline deduplication visible to volume owners?

Hi, I was reading quite some docs on the new AID (aggregate inline deduplication) feature in Ontap 9.2 but failed to find out if the space savings would be visible to the volume owners when mounting them via NFS. F.ex. if you provide an iSCSI LUN on a deduplicated volume to a tenant, he will not see the deuplication savings because they will only be at the volume level which he cannot see. For filebased storage, like CIFS or NFS shares, the tenant will immediately see the space savings due to deduplication. Is this also the case for AID or will only the volume footprint shrink on the aggregate level (since all volumes participating in AID need to be thin anyways) but the space usage in the volume will still show the non-deduped size for the tenant?
