FDMI reporting with qla2xxx driver on Linux

Hi, I recently noticed that qla2xxx (Qlogic HBAs) driver on Linux is capable of reporting FDMI. By default it sends "Linux-default", and I'm failing to see how to change it to actual host name as it becomes way more handy then =) Any ideas? Cheers, Vladimir

NetApp API authentication

Having started to review some of our filer automation scripts, I'm starting to look in a bit more detail at the API. My first conclusion is - the perl SDK doesn't actually seem to do anything much - it seems to be a reimplementation of LWP and and XML Parser. Given I have LWP and XML::Twig installed, and am making API calls just fine, is there anything I'm missing here? Aside from that though - authentication types. I currently use ssh public-private key pairs, in a trusted account on a management station to enable 'doing stuff' with filers. It _looks_ like my only option with the API is to create a designated service account, and assign permissions... and then embed a username and password in a script somewhere. That just doesn't sit well with me - I like what ssh-agent will do in 'unlocking' key files, and I don't like embedding (potentially privileged) usernames and passwords ... anywhere. Does anyone have a better solution than a couple of designated API users (privileged and read only) with a file somewhere embedding their username and password? Does anyone have a better approach?

Hi, Before I take a long journey with NetApp support, let me ask you guys. I have CentOS 6.7 server and I'm trying to attach a cDOT LUN to it as path discovery fails with: kernel: scsi: host 0 channel 3 id 0 lun4194304 has a LUN larger than allowed by the host adapter However it only fails with the message above for one HBA out of two installed into the server. The HBAs (drivers, firmware etc) are identical. The HBA are Qlogic relabeled as HP. So RedHat has a KB article for it https://access.redhat.com/solutions/67157 and it's advised to contact storage appliance vendor. I've seen that once, it was due to some FW files being absent under /lib/firmware, it's not the same this time. Has anyone seen that before? Cheers, Vladimir

8.1.4 P9 7-Mode

Hello, Has anybody upgraded to 8.1.4 P9 7-Mode yet? I am looking to upgrade to 8.1.4 P9 from 8.1.4 P3 shortly. I am especially curious if there are any known issues with 8.1.4 P9 because it is currently the latest release in the 8.1.4 family. If 8.1.4 P9 turns out to be problematic, we will be forced to upgrade to an 8.2.X release. We've been hesitant to upgrade to an 8.2.X release because our average controller utilization is 40-45% (avg_processor_busy) and, as I understand it, we can expect a bump of 10-20% CPU utilization on account of new code/features that have been introduced in 8.2.x. Hi, Anyone know if there’s a way to change a throttle value on a snapmirror relationship based upon time-of-day? As an example, between the hours of 7 AM and midnight throttle the transfers to 2.5MB/s and between midnight and 7 AM, throttle the transfers to 10MB/s. There was a way to create a throttle policy in the old NMC, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to do it with cDOT, at least as far as I can see. I’m considering an external script that will modify the throttle based on time-of-day, but, particularly with long running initializations, the process has to be stopped “aborted” and started again in order for the new throttle value to get picked up. Without logic in the script I could end up re-initializing the snapmirror relationship if the init finishes and I don’t stop the script. — Scott Eno s.eno(a)me.com

DFS on CDOT 8.3.1 and riverbed appliance

We just started migrating our CIFS data from 7-mode to CDOT system. For our remote office data we use riverbed for acceleration and what we are finding out that if "-is-advertise-dfs-enabled" is set to true then it will not accelerate the CIFS traffic. Per Netapp and Riverbed we have to turn this off on the CIFS Vserver for all the data and then enable it for shares we want the dfs advertise to work. Our issue is that we have over 200 shares which do not pass through riverbed appliance and are not affected but we still have to turn it off and there are only about 10 shares for which we want this to be disable. If I follow the solution by Netapp then I would disable on the vserver and then enable it for the 200 or so shares manually and also I have to remember it to do it for new shares. We use DFS for name space only and not for replication. What I am not clear is to what this setting would do if I turn it off for all the CIFS data? Does that mean I cannot map the drives using dfs path or something else. Anyone has run into similar issue and what did you do to resolve it. Any help is appreciated. Is there an update to tr-4068? Moreover looking for VMware 6x, NFS, jumbo frames info. If 4068 is best, I can use that. Steve

Cmode: Custom stats XML configs..

Anyone using customer stats XML files in Cmode?
