Hello all, we got some old DS14 Shelfs with LRC Modules. Is it possible to replace the LRC Modules with ESH2? DFM 4.01 fragmentation on windows 2003 server

I have a vm running windows 2003 with DFM on it monitoring a few filers. Its been running for years, and I have gone from DFM 3.3 on up to 4.x. The question is this. The drive that has the application installed on it is heavily fragmented. All the fragmentation is in the perf data type files. Any thoughts? LUN has run out of space

Hi all, I've a strange issue on a filer deeply used in FC SAN (3160 with DoT 7.3.2P6 -> it will be upgraded but for now is impossible). On a W2K8 server running Exchange 2010 a mailbox store is hosted on a LUN with this characteristics. The LUN has been created with Snapdrive. Volume /vol/excmbs2FAB01Data/ 155GB 100GB 54GB 65% /vol/excmbs2FAB01Data/ /vol/excmbs2FAB01Data/.snapshot 0KB 2110MB 0KB ---% /vol/excmbs2FAB01Data/.snapshot Vol options are Nosnap on Snap reserve/sched 0 Volume reservation "volume" Fractional reserve 0 Autosize on Volume autosize is currently ON for volume 'excmbs2FAB01Data'. The volume is set to grow to a maximum of 240 GB, in increments of 10 GB. Snap autodelete on Asis is on with a 20% space saved And the LUN /vol/excmbs2FAB01Data/excmbs2FAB01Data 150.0g (161067432960) (r/w, online, mapped) Comment: " " Serial#: W-PqRo/BiR8t Share: none Space Reservation: disabled Multiprotocol Type: windows_2008 Maps: viaRPC.21:00:00:24:ff:04:15:94.SRSEDEEXCMBS2=2 viaRPC.21:00:00:24:ff:04:15:91.SRSEDEEXCMBS2=2 The only snap in the volume comes from a Snapmirror relationship and it takes roughly 2 GB Volume excmbs2FAB01Data working... %/used %/total date name ---------- ---------- ------------ -------- 2% ( 2%) 1% ( 1%) Mar 23 15:03 netapp2040fab1(0135099451)_excmbs2FAB01Data.2 (snapmirror) As you can see the LUN is written by host for only 100 GB but sometimes it happens that the autogrow starts and on the console this messages are logged: Thu Mar 24 16:01:39 CET [netappfa1: wafl.vol.autoSize.done:info]: Automatic increase size of volume 'excmbs2FAB06Data' by 10485760 kbytes done. Looking for details on NOW I've found no docs on this issue (just one regarding rws issues) and sincerely I cannot understand the reasons of this "out of space" messages. What if SnapMirrror Cannot Keep Up

So if a source/destination pair is doing a snapmirror update and the current update is not complete before a new update is requested, what is the behavior? Does it queue the second snapmirror update and just update it when the first completes? I understand the behavior when updates are done by the scheduler on the array itself as per snapmirror.conf. In this case it queues the updates but only to a maximum of three. "If an update is in progress when another is scheduled to occur, SnapMirror starts another transfer as soon as the transfer is complete. However, if three updates pass while the current transfer is in progress, SnapMirror does only one more update; it does not go back and run updates that have been made obsolete by those scheduled later." But I'm not talking updates initiated by the scheduler on the array itself. I'm really asking about something like SME performing a backup and requesting an update. The snapmirror update here is functionally equivalent to issuing a snapmirror update command manually. Suppose the mirror does not complete before the next backup and subsequent update request is made (or snapmirror update command issued manually). What if the rate of data change exceeds the ability of network to complete the mirror or if the WAN link to the DR site is just too darn slow? Do the updates queue on the destination and snapshots build up on the source indefinitely? Or do manual or snapmanager initiated updates follow the "queue to three and then give up" rule above? Hi, Cifs got a problem with nat and more user accounts on one ip. There is a cifs option that you can try. the option is called cifs.client.dup-detection and is set default to ip-address Try name, for detection through netbios or set it to off Cifs client detection is a option to detect duplicate sessions in order to terminate any session that did not terminate when a client system rebooted Hope that helps, greetz Philipp

We've encountered a problem were clients behind a NAT firewall device are having intermittent problems accessing shares on the NetApp vfiler. Clinets that are not behind the NAT firewall device have no problems. We've switched out the OpenBSD NAT device with an F5 BigIP and the problem still exists. Do you know of a limitation of the NetApp to work correctly with hundreds of CIFS clients coming from a single IP address? It's a NetApp FAS3070 running OnTap 7.3.5P1. Is anyone using Microsoft DPM with a DR Site built? How do you replicate from site-site and what is the recovery process that you use? I have read TR-3900, but it explains that two DPM servers are required and 1 must be virtual. I was wondering if there is an alternative method or if i can reduce the number of servers to 1 virtual. We are trying to design a solution that integrates with NetApp SnapShot and Snapmirror. Fabric MC. Minimum link speed on ISL

Hi all, is there some doc or some best practice that definitively states the minimum needed bandwidth on the two ISL that are present in a fabric MC? I mean, in case of use of the direct ISL on the two couple of SAN switches I expect to have 4 Gbps on the fibre wires But in case of use of DWDM what is the minimum have I to ask for or to expect?
