autosupport stops functioning

anyone else have this happen? suddenly one of our filers stops generating autosupport messages. both autosupport.enable and autosupport.support.enable are on. if i generate a test email with the autosupport.doit option nothing happens. not even a failed message, the console just sits there as if i never generated one. needless to say neither netapp or our email server gets anything from this filer and nothing hits the console about generating any autosupport emails.

after all these years, how off-topic i can possibly get here and still hope for some help without getting flamed? ;-) is anyone out there willing to help me with a simple adaptec snapserver configuration issue? this creature has a very limited web interface and we need to set it to nfs v3 instead of the v2 default....i will gladly trade for assistance with a netapp issue if you have one....or you can have my first born (he's gotten a little expensive anyway.) reply off-list, please, or someone at mathworks is sure to hurt me. :-) ...lorib

Autosupport failing to mailhost

Hello, From what seems out of the blue, Autosupport emails are no longer able to be sent to my mailhost (Exchange 2003 on the same subnet): "Autosupport cannot connect to host rtpmail01.americas.ppdi.local (Network comm problem) for message: USER_TRIGGERED (TEST)" This message will be thrown until the message is eventually dropped. My Exchange administrator does not see any connections coming from the filer to send this email. exports issue with 7.0.4P9

Howdy all, I have the following issue: I've two filers "stuck" at ONTAP 7.0.4P9. Don't ask... they were put there before my time here, and now support 50,000 mailboxes that *never* go down.... I've inherited the following in my exports file which I cannot experiment with without risking downtime to our pool of mailhosts: /vol/vol0 -sec=sys,rw=XXX.XX.XXX.XXX/25:admin-host.domain.edu,root=XXX.XX.XXX.XXX/25:admin-host.domain.edu,nosuid /vol/vol1 -sec=sys,rw=XXX.XX.XXX.XXX/25:admin-host.domain.edu,root=XXX.XX.XXX.XXX/25:admin-host.domain.edu,nosuid Mount access is NOT granted to the admin-host in this configuration and I cannot find a reference to this issue on the NOW site. Was there issues similar to this in the exports file back in ONTAP 7.0.4 ? There seems to only be a reference to ONTAP 7.0.6 on the NOW site and at that a fair amount of "exports" issues but none specific to this issue that I found. Anybody seen this ? Any help is much appreciated. -Robert

Can I share Vmware ESX and Windows server NTFS on an iSCSI

Dear group I would like to hot-backup my machines from my ESX 3.0 server. I have No Virtual Center.. I'm thinking about having a shared vol on my NetApp. To this I would backup my hot machines through ESX snapshot backup (VCB ? ) Then from my Windows 2003 server i would connect to the VOL with software iSCSI and backup the files. I have it working with Windows seeing the vol fine and formatting it to NTFS. But then ESX can't use it. And I have it working the other way round - but then my Windows can't see VMFS files. I this possible in any way ? Thanks ! Access to filers filesystem

Dear Nabbler's I have two fas200 or rather IBM N3700 A20. I have reconfigured the B controller for a new diskshelf by removing the aggr and done a ctrl-C for a total new install. I originally did this and upgraded to IBM Ontap 7.2.1.1 - But now I can't find that on IBM.com. On the filers A controller under "software list" I can see the "7211_setup_m.exe" But I simply can not find a way to access the filers filesystem or any other way to pick that file. I need this for the B controllers installation. Can you help me ? perl script for parsing/printing CIFS audit event logs

Hi Toasters, We keep a database of the most recent logins per user per host system and we recently added netapp CIFS logins to this database. I enabled CIFS auditing of logon/logoff events but was dismayed that the resulting *.evt files are in a binary format that only Windows understands. We are pretty Unix-centric so I did some googling and found a couple of very helpful references for the Windows security event file format and wrote a perl script to parse and dump the event log files on a Unix box. NFS question

Hi folks, I have a question from my customer about NFS that I can't answer. So I need some help from our NFS "gurus". Here is the question: Today we evaluate the possibility to use the NFS service for our Linux systems. Because not all the Linux server are in one room, we need enhanced security. Today we use the System-V security adjustments for the exports: /vol/proj000 -sec=sys,rw=192.0.16.0/24,root=192.0.16.97 For the Linux Systems we must use parallel to the System-V security also Kerberos. Question: Is it possible to use Kerberos and System-V on a Volume/NFS export simultaneous? SME :: Invalid Mixed LUN

Toasters: Has anyone seen this message next to your storage groups in SnapManager for Exchange? "Invalid Mixed LUN" (red exclamation in the disk icon too) This follows an asup SME failure message. Last item in /etc/messages is Thu Feb 21 04:00:38 EST [<storage_appliance>: app.log.err:error]: <Exchange_Host>: SME Version 3.2: (111) Backup: SnapManager for Exchange online backup failed. (Exchange Version 6.5 (Build 7638.2: Service Pack 2)) Error code: 0xc00413bc, There is no storage group which can be backed up using VSS. All of the databases in the storage group may be dismounted.
