Aggregate Redirect

I have an IBM NS3700/FAS270, my problem is that aggr0 and all volume within status is redirect. Upgrade firmware, ONTAP and add hardware in one step?

We are adding FC interface cards and new shelves of 750G disks to a FAS960c pair. We need to upgrade ONTAP from 7.1.1.1 to 7.2.3 to support the disks and our system firmware is not the latest. I was wondering if we dare try and do all of this with a single reboot like this: install firmware files and download install ONTAP files and download halt and run update_flash to install firmware power off install interface cards connect new shelves and power them up power up the heads I am concerned that now the filers will come up with new firmware, a new version of ONTAP, and newly installed hardware and disks. Am I asking for trouble? My conservative nature tells me to install the firmware, boot back up, install ONTAP, reboot, shut down, power off, install the new hardware and power back on. nfs tunneling with SSH

Hi toasters, as we are getting more and more secure we do now have some firewalls within our internal network which prevent us from accessing e.g. installation files or some tool-stuff from central stores on our filers. I have tested a little bit with ssh-tunneling for NFS. With my client this works well, but i have trouble doing this with my filers. Here is what i do: client>> ssh -f -L 7777:filer:2049 -l root nstore2 sysstat 100 client>> ssh -f -L 8888:filer:4046 -l root nstore2 sysstat 100 Where 2049 is the filers nfs port and 4046 ist mountd. On the filer i have exported a volume /vol/test to the filer itself. When i now run client>> mount -t nfs -o tcp,port=7777,mountport=8888 localhost:/vol/test /mnt The client hangs and on the filer i see the message: [openssh.dispatch.protocol:warning]: SSH dispatch failed from address myclientsIP, type 90, packet 10 Has anybody ever tried this or has an idea where my problem is?? Max raid group size on FAS2050 with SAS disks

I went to the NOW System Configuration Guide and it hasn't been published for the FAS2050. I was pointed to another document that lists max raid group sizes for SATA and FC disks, but not SAS. Hi Steve, Yes, FAS2050 supports 18 SAS disk RAID-DP raid group. Here is the FAS2000 series Max. raid group sizes including SAS drives: Maximum RAID Group Sizes RAID 6 (RAID-DP(tm)) FC or SAS: 28 (26 data disks plus 2 parity disks) SATA: 16 (14 data disks plus 2 parity disks) RAID 4 FC or SAS: 14 (13 data disks plus 1 parity disk) SATA: 7 (6 data disks plus 1 parity disk) Thanks, Mukesh -----Original Message----- From: Stephen C. CIFS File Services with local filer authentication

Hello, I am running Ontap 7.1.2.1 with CIFS, and trying to figure out a way to authenticate users locally using the Filer. I only manage 5-10, so I don't want to use an external Active Directory or NIS. I have followed http://www.netapp.com/library/tr/3358.pdf (CIFS File Services in a DMZ Environment), but couldn't make it work. I have configured authentication mode to Workstation: WinNT, and remove the default user mapping of Unix to Win and Win to Unix. I have also created a new group (using useradmin tool) with a "none" role and added a user to this group. All authentication requests from a Win2003 or WinXP, using the local user have failed. Have anyone setup a Filer to work in a similar configuration ? What am I missing ? HTTP admin access denied

Hello, For some reason I can not access the Netapp admin Interface. The server returns with the following errors: Error 503 HTTP is not licensed.To administer this filer, use /na_admin/ . OSSV "incremental forever

Can someone explain incremental forever to me in simple terms? If I do an initial baseline, and it's 100MB. Assuming a policy where we have 2 week retention on the snapvaults So 2 weeklies, 4 nightly and 8 hourly.
