If I have an entry like this in my exports file: /vol/vol1/dir -access=host1:host2 should it be possible to mount the directory /vol/vol1/dir/subdir directly? And if so, what happens if I add the following entry to the exports: /vol/vol1/dir/subdir -access=host3 Can host1 and host2 now only mount /vol/vol1/dir or can they still mount /vol/vol1/dir/subdir? Hi Thorsten, the " System Administration File Access Management Guide" says: How Data ONTAP matches mount requests with exported resources When Data ONTAP receives a mount request from a client, it compares the path name in the mount request to the path names of the exported resources. If Data ONTAP finds a match, the NFS client can mount the resource. Data ONTAP uses the longest matching prefix in the path name in determining access restrictions. Example Suppose you export both the /vol/vol0/home resource and the /vol/vol0 resource. When a host tries to mount the /vol/vol0/home/user1 directory, Data ONTAP applies the access restrictions specified for the /vol/vol0/home resource to determine whether the host should be granted access. Similarly, when a host tries to mount the /vol/vol0 directory, Data ONTAP applies the access restrictions specified for the /vol/vol0 resource. Got a question about the consistency point types as reported by sysstat... Many of the types are pretty clear: B Back to back CPs (CP generated CP) F CP caused by full NVLog S CP caused by snapshot operation T CP caused by timer : continuation of CP from previous interval # continuation of CP from previous interval, and the NVLog for the next CP is now full, so that the next CP will be of type B. but I don't understand what these mean: H CP caused by high water mark L CP caused by low water mark U CP caused by flush Z CP caused by internal sync Until next time... You can produce a report of user quota information through the Data Fabric Manager Interface (DFM). Hi Jerry, There is a 2 node version of DFM that is available for free (2 node means up to 2 managed appliances). You can get it by talking with your Netapp sales person. It can generate a per user usage report via the GUI or via the CLI. syslog user quota exceeded messages

Hi, does anyone know how I could change logging to get the following accomplished ? I would like not to get the following disk quota exceeded messages for each of my 35K+ users, but ONLY the tree disk quota exceeded message. Right now I get: [enterprise: GbE-III/e4:notice]: uid xxxx tid 1: disk quota exceeded on volume maildir. I would like to only get the: [enterprise: GbE-III/e4:notice]: tid 14: tree quota exceeded on volume vol0. My /etc/syslog.conf is *.info /dev/console *.info /etc/messages NetApp Release 6.4.2P6: Thanks, George
