There is a tape drive compatibility matrix here http://now.netapp.com/NOW/knowledge/docs/olio/cert_matrices/tape_drives.shtm l which indicates that F700-series filers require HVD. As this article indicates http://now.netapp.com/Knowledgebase/solutionarea.asp?id=dfaf091a-9bbd-11d4-9 2f7-080020c8339b&resource=&number=19&isExternal=0 (link will be wrapped) you must use fast-wide differential SCSI drives and not single ended drives on an F700-series filer. The compatibility matrix indicates the F840 supports both FWD-HVD and LVD-SE, except for DLT7000 drives. Filer ATM card driver questions

I apologize for getting a little bit off topic... (I doubt many of you are terribly interested in pre-sales issues) Since so many NetApp personnel monitor this discussion list, could someone respond with who would be the best POC for me to call with a laundry list of specific detailed technical questions regarding ATM card drivers and support that is holding up a purchase request for a new filer. quota overhead

Hi, I'm thinking to implement quotas on the filer, but the one thing which concerns me is NFS performance. Can any1 try to quantify quota system's degradation effect on NFS performance? Please elaborate as much as you can. Thanks in advance. Igor

Security Question

I had a question for this group. My company just started to install Filers on our network and I was wandering if there are any products that you use to connect to the Filer to replace the standard telnet command. I know Network Appliance sells SecureAdmin but I was wandering if there are any others out there. Our security group is concerned about using telnet since any passwords that is send is send in clear text. Any suggestions are welcome also if SecureAdmin is being used any input on it would be appreciated.
