What I am looking for is when Netapps comes out with code that will allow you to do a snap shot on a qtree basis.   That will help data managment out big time.

SnapMirror Qtree-level product enhancement was announced Monday.  Product
information is updated on the public website by now.  To summarize:

- Requires ONTAP 6.2
- Single destination volume can host mirrored data for multiple source
filers' qtrees
- Destination qtree is read-only, but it can reside in a read-write volume
on the destination filer
- Each destination volume supports up to 29 mirrored qtrees; cannot cascade
- Works at a logical file level, so it does NOT transfer FILESYSTEM metadata
==> protection against file corruption at destination site, which previously
would have been replicated with volume-level SnapMirror
- Dramatically improves capacity management for destination filer with
multiple sources
- Can replicate smaller data sets, further reducing capacity requirements,
while improving bandwidth and CPU overhead loads; however, if mirroring the
entire volume it does take longer and use more capacity than volume-based
SnapMirror (approximately 5% overhead compared to volume-level SnapMirror)
- Changing between volume- and qtree-level (in either direction) requires a
new level 0

HTH.
