You sometimes can sweet talk NA Support and have them make the change if you call and explain the situation, assuming the controller was replaced by NetApp Support Services in the first place.

But that said, licenses are not end-user transferable unless the system is being acquired during a company acquisition or some preexisting agreement with NetApp. NetApp licenses the software to the end-user for use on that specific controller. Super lame when it comes to resale, but they are a software company trying to monetize their products.

Subject: Change Serial Number

Hello,

I bought old netapp but I have no license. I asked the guy who I bought he
said this controller replaced in past but it should be licenses.

I checked lots of doc , if controller replaced license should be generated
by netapp but ¹ guess they forget to the that and now controller has no
support and eoa.

As a result ¹ have controller with no license. I have the old license keys
but it locked with the old controller serial number. Is there anyway to
change serial number. Because if ¹ can change serial number with old ones ¹
can use old license key.

Thanks,
