One more follow up questions.
If on destination create a volume and qtree, I get this error
cannot initialize an existing qtree.
Transfer aborted: cannot initialize an existing
qtree.
If I dont create a qtree on destination, how do I make sure that destination is qtree when I run
source:/vol/volXXX destination:/vol/volXXX/qtree

Just keep in mind, that
source:/vol/volXXX/- destination:/vol/volXXX/qtree
copies everything that is NOT in a qtree.
If there's qtrees in your source you might want to mention them
separately also.
Alternatively you could use
source:/vol/volXXX destination:/vol/volXXX/qtree
which would replicate everything, but then whatever qtrees you
might have had at the destination will be just regular directories
at the destination (not good for restore...)

Thanks Richard for suggestions!

Can I snapmirror
"Everything" in the volume into a qtree?
filer7.3.5:/vol/VOL1/-
--> filer8.2:/vol/qtree/
You
cannot snapmirror a volume to
a qtree, no (at least not that
I’ve ever heard of).
You
can do volume to volume or
qtree to qtree (and you can do
data *not* in a qtree
to qtree).
If
your source is 7.3 and the
destination is 8.2 I’m fairly
certain you can do a VSM from
32 to 64-bit volumes (added in
8.1 IIRC).

Snammirror question
Can I
snapmirror from volume
into qtree?
Source is
32-bit volume and
destination is qtree on
64-bit volume
For QSM (qtree
snapmirror)
the versions
don’t really
matter. You
can snapmirror
new->old,
old->new.
For Volume
snapmirror the
destination
has to be the
same or newer.
I know we have
8.1 as the
source and 8.0
as the
destination
for QSM.
Maybe someone
can confirm if
there is an
exact version
requirement as
7.3.5 is
pretty old,
but I believe
QSM should
work from
older to
Newer, but def
not the other
way around.
Can I snapmirror between the
following
source and
destination
From 32-bit volume into 64-bit
qtree?
