Mark,
You can accomplish the same by 'zoning' the tape to the Filer. Connect the Filer to a SAN switch with the tape library. On the SAN switch, you zone the number of tape drives you want dedicated to the Filer. The Filer will essentially see the tape as local attached. I'm not familiar with the 349x but I would think you can 'zone' out some tape drives in the library.
Good luck,
Marcus Bui

Subject: NDMP and IBM Tivoli
Does anyone backup their filers' CIFS data to IBM Tivoli (TSM) using NDMP? We have a 349x tape library connected to our Tivoli server using fiber channel. Based upon the IBM docs, we have to connect the NetApp filers directly to the 349x library. I can physically accomplish this. My question is with respect to the tape drives within the library. Our local TSM support staff are telling me that I must be physically connected to a tape drive within the library. That is not the way I am interpreting the IBM docs.
Any configuration help would be appreciated.
