Two things are "officially" required per NetApp:  Microsoft Shadow Copy client installed on your client systems (2000 SP3+ or XP) and ONTAP 6.5 or better.  The MS client is included with SP2, but is available for separate download.  I say "offically" required because of their specification for ONTAP 6.5, but from personal experience, it works on some older revisions as well (at least some 6.4, but I'm not sure how far back).  Check the links below for more details from MS & NetApp.

Snapshot access from CIFS Windows XP SP2 Previous Versions.





A colleague has just told me that, with SP2 installed on Windows XP,
File, Properties, Previous Versions displays snapshots.
