Oh, yah – that definitely looks like it.

I’ll try to 4a with 8.1.4P10 now; second controller didn’t even boot at all, not even with 8.3.2 netboot and threw further error messages:

NetApp Data ONTAP 8.3.2P12

Invalid time in real time clock.

Check and reset the date immediately!

C-I configuration detected but the IOXM doesn't seem to be responding.  Please reseat the IOXM and power cycle the chassis.

Also, both loaders wrote „Loader-A>“ on the loader prompt – so maybe something with the CI as indicated by the message above?

I’ve now pulled out the IOXM on both controllers and will try to upade them to the latest version to see if maybe a firmware upgrade fixes the issues and will report back later.

Thanks for the insights so far!

Looks like BURT 639665. (Fixed with ONTAP 8.2)

Same Panic-string, same ONTAP 8.1.3P1:

https://community.netapp.com/t5/Data-ONTAP-Discussions/Fix-Burt-639665/td-p/47242

If you want to repurpose it and it’s not productive simplest way would be to 4a it and update to 8.2.5.

Or maybe latest 8.1.x version if you’re not able to get new 28-char length license keys. But if I remember correctly if you update 7-Mode 8.1 directly to 8.2 the installed licenses would still be valid.

Best regards

Hey toasters,

I’m trying to repurpose one of my old FAS3240 systems and have booted it up today just to be greeted with the following panic on one of the two controllers:

Starting AUTOBOOT press Ctrl-C to abort...

Any insights on what might be the issue here?

Needless to say, there’s no maintenance anymore on this system so opening a support case is not possible 😊

Thanks,
