No.
It does not seem some “security”
or ACL issue…
This happens also when an XP
client create a new file on the share…
We’ve never seen before
this.
He had just wrote us that he has
tried to apply the patch and registry modification with no luck.
In the same time I’ve noted that my “shell32.dll”
of my XP SP2 client (never had those issues!) is datet october 25, 2007, (version
6.00.2900.3241 (xpsp_sp2_qfe.071025-1245), size 8.489.472 byte) so that much
more recent than the one cited in the MS article.
I’ve then discovered that my newest explorer is due to
a Windows Update from KB943460 (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=8ba1c2f9-1bde-4e97-b327-21259c5e5104)
I’ve suggested him, for now, to try to do this update
on one of its XP SP2 clients.

Perhaps at some prior point in time they may have used a unix
(Samba) system in their environment and it changed the ACL version or something
to that effect?

Subject: CIFS BUG!!! Solution ID: kb23196 (???)
Hi all
A customer of ours migrating to a new NetApp all their
shares (from a Samba server on Linux) got this well documented error, both from
NetApp and Microsoft.
Data Ontap is 7.2.4.
The problem is that neither me or some collegues of mine
have had this issue, from XP clients or other Windows OS!!!
So, why this customer is getting this bug now?
He ha also tried to change the registry key (its clients are
all XP SP2) but nothing change! Any file system operation performer by an XP
client need a refresh (F5) of the explorer…
Any idea?
NetApp says:
Solution ID: kb23196
CIFS: Files
created by Windows XP are not visible without pressing F5 |
Symptoms |
When a Windows XP workstation is mapping filer shares through
a DFS root and a new file is added, the new file may not be visible in
Windows Explorer until the user explicitly refreshes the window
(in Windows Explorer by pressing F5). |
CIFS: Files created by
Windows XP are not visible without pressing F5 |

Microsoft
says: http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B823291&x=22&y=7 |
