Also, if your system has a support contract and sends 
regular ASUPs to NetApp,
you can open a case and request an filer upgrade 
plan.  They can generate one based
on your filer's config.

Thanks for everyone's responses, it sounds like the really important 
thing I was missing was the download part.  I may setup a web folder with 
upgrades however to facilitate this process in the future.  The main thing 
I was worried about is that my configuration will be the same after I am done 
upgrading. 
If anyone is curious, I am upgrading because while we were testing Wista we 
found that name resolution doesn't work to access the filer for the version of 
Data Ontap we have installed.  According to the NOW website this problem 
was fixed in subsequent 7.1.x releases.
